Well now that the democrats have righted this sinking economy saved the desperate from a lack of healthcare coverage and saved the world from oppression it seems only fitting that we use the surplus money from our lowered taxes, interest and driven down the cost of living that they spend it! Or welcome them back to the real world where this is a total waste of time and even more so waste of money.

Maybe these comments re negative because the posters are right and resent their tax dollars being wasted on a personal monument to a local demagogue. Sam Stratton would have known better.

Yo Grant--it's called "truth" not negativity. Wasting millions on a kickback Demonrat project is the negative here. That money could have been used for something important--like giving it back to the people who earned it and have to pee it away to liberal politicians.

All the other commenters claim that government actions are consistently pointed at the same end.

I wonder if they've noticed their comments are just as consistent - in their negativity!

A bridge to nowhere and a Bus service that is just as absurd and costly and unecessary. Can we please choose just one??

This is Tonko's monument to himself. But will enough people come out to vote him out of office? I doubt it. They P & M but never turn out to get rid of him.

The 2014 election for the NY 20th Congressional District pitting Democrat incumbent Paul Tonko against Republican Jim Fischer should be a two issue race. The major issue is the Affordable Care Act and Congressman Tonko's unending support for this legislation, even though we don't know what the bill means since President Obama keeps changing it by executive order given its obvious major flaws (high costs) and the mid-term election issues the ACA has created for incumbent Democrats. Fischer only needs to run on this issue since everyone understands the problems with the ACA and how it was rammed through.

The minor issue is this "Bridge to Nowhere" that needs no explaination but how Fischer can separate himself from Tonko by making a pledge that when elected he will see to it that construction of Tonko's "Bridge to Nowhere" will be stopped and the millions of unnecessary public funding will be returned to the folks as a matter of restoring the public trust.

This is exactly what is wrong with NYS and the U.S. Stupid unnecessary and useless projects. How about giving me $2 million and I retire tomorrow.

What good is a walk bridge to the South End when the Welfare office is about 13 miles to the West, in Fonda?

Total waste of tax dollars. This is a perfect example of the ignorance of our elected officials and the voters who elect them.

The bridge to nowhere....That 12 mil could be used to cleanup those gaping eyesores along the south side of the river... What a waste of tax dollars
