Can you imagine riding on a high speed train, zooming along at 100+ mph reading your book or taking a nap then all of a sudden there is a derailment like we just saw only this time you and your family are aboard a great progressive idea don't you think?

Rural train tracks are the most vulnerable/easiest terrorist targets in the USA. You couldn't pay me enough to ride 125 mph on two steel rails, sitting on wood, held in place by large nails. There was a derailment 1/2 mile from my house. 34 cars completely demolished (like an accordion) at a mere 55mph. No thanks. Waste of money.

I never read anything about a feasibility study with regards to demand; is there a flood of cash bearing people to keep this train busy to the hilt to pay back its cost. What it really sounds like is spending money for the sake of creating labor; da_ned if the thing ever gets used. Do this instead, pay off some of the debt and, let the people keep a little more in their pay check at the end of the week.

Meanwhile, the 'fast' train from Albany to NYC is still in parts, rusting and scrapped in Albany. Yeah, a fast train to nowhere at a huge cost is always a good idea, again. Let the DOT know.
