Feds like blank checks

February 24, 2014

How would you react if your bank gave you an open-ended credit limit — and assured you that within a year or so, no matter how much you had borrowed in the interim, it would be increased? Banks don’......

Debt held by the public approximates current federal demand on credit markets. It represents a burden on today's economy, and the interest paid on this debt represents a burden on current taxpayers. Federal borrowing from the public absorbs resources available for private investment and may put upward pressure on interest rates. Further, debt held by the public is the accumulation of what the federal government borrowed in the past and is reported as a liability on the balance sheet of the government's consolidated financial statements.

Todays national debt is $17.4 TRILLION when Obama became the president it was $10.7 Billion, Do the math and understand that this debt cannot be repaid with the way OUR government continues to spend. SEVEN BILLION DOLLARS IN NEW DEBT is NOT fiscal responsibility it is the ruin of the US future!

Mr.BOB51, How is it that Israel can attack another country with air strikes without a declaration of war as they did last week and have in the past? How is it that our government doesn't even acknowledge the event. Tack this query onto my last statement and, though doubtful, you may figure out what's going on.

I am extremely curious who Popeye's "country that stands by and does nothing while our young men die" is. Are you still fighting the Cold War, Popeye, or is their a new national enemy that I haven't heard of yet?

ToT, adkman just guesses how Govt. works. He obviously does not know the House authorizes, not spends. That apparent 'subtlety' completely escapes him.

ADKmanothing and Io mean NOTHING gets passed without the presidents signature, unless enough people with the countries future in mind run both houses of congress so they can override the ineptness of this president... maybe after the midterms? And I do so admire your name calling, the progressive battle cry!

ADKman: So it is Congress that spends, So I guess it wasn't Bush's fault after all. Glad you finally admit it. I like how you left wing wackos have absolutely no problem making arguments when they suit your point but then use just the opposite when it comes time to blame the other side. Jus remember: You guys can't run from the last 6 years and this "minimum wage" economy that your side has created and seems to be proud of. You can't run from the Obamacare pig that only your side voted for. You better start coming up with some talking points on that. Even you lefties cant blame the right for the Obamacare mess. NONE of us voted for it. And you can't run from the income redistribution you are trying to pull. Keep going with that one - It is a sure winner - FOR THE RIGHT!!

TiredOfTax you ignorant *****. Does your simple mind understand that spending comes from Congress, not the president? Congress creates legislation, including budgets. The president merely executes it.

We have been left with no choice but to ride out the liberal spending spree for the duration of Obama's presidency. At that time we hopefully have learned our lesson and will elect someone that has the future of our country in mind instead of getting reelected by giving away the future. Liberal democrats have not done a thing to reduce the costs of government and have severely overspent in every policy that they have enacted. Time to smarten up America... things cannot continue as they are now!

The current state of our nation has nothing to do with democrats, republicans, liberals, conservatives or the like. By virtue of the nature of all our representatives, that being greed, they have allowed our democracy to become a plutocracy controlled by foreign money and foreign interests. We're spending in excess of $800 billion annually fighting conflicts initially instigated by a country that stands by and does nothing while our young men die. It doesn't matter one iota who is president or what his affiliations are. Obama and his recent predecessors are nothing but puppets controlled by super PACs and other big money mostly from the same source. Time for a change and for that to happen actions speak louder than words. I'm sorry I won't live long enough to see that.

The credit rating companies should downgrade our credit quota to the point that the interest we have to pay will be extraordinary. Then watch the politicians scramble. They probably do what a few of did before when it was downgraded; investigate the rating companies, in other words harass the raters.

It begins at the State level - if 75% of the States (38) voted to make it a crime to spend beyond current revenue, enormous pressure could be placed upon the Federal Government.

I will never give up and I have a lot less time. I will never give in, I will never be silenced and I will never submit. I will continue to offend those who need offending and I will fight the disease of liberalism to my last breath. I am an American and proud of it. What I am not proud of is the way we let the Government get the point where Citizens fear their Government so much so that they get away with generational theft with impunity.
