If you see Patti, tell her what you think. She is open and honest and always cares about doing the right thing. She won three times in a conservative, rural town. Better yet, give her a call.

I think the republicans would be smart if they supported a new face for Farley's seat. So often we hear Albany referred to a "dysfunction junction". We also hear constituents say "its not my guy", but I got news for you, if he is a long term legislator, it is your guy whether he is a republican, a democrat or any other party member or independent.

I should note that special elections have to be scheduled 70 days in advance, so if the date was set today, the earliest election could be April 29th. After the budget is due and everyone will be in a rush to get to campaign for re-election.

I hate to say it, but they will probably carry him out of the senate someday. The longer this now 81 year old stays, the more likely he will not be able to finish his term. That means that the district would have no representation for a time. Gov. Cuomo loves to play politics with special elections. Currently, I believe there are about 11 open seats in the two houses, most of which have been vacant since the begining of the year. He has now let it go so long that you may as well wait to the Nov. elections, meanwhile many people in the state are not being represented.

I was hoping Mr. Farley would retire and allow a younger Republican to win. I cannot see letting the Democrats take control of the Senate. Can you imagine the tax levies if the spend and spend and spend and tax and tax and tax liberals controlled the Senate Assembly and Governor's office? If that occurs, buy stock in the companies that make pajama pants. There will be an awful lot of them around here. They will be in your pockets so deep, they will be able to pull up your socks (or steal them!!) Farley is better than losing Senate control.

It is a sad commentary on the state of politics in New York State (and specifically upstate New York) that some people believe "change" is the answer to political representation and maladies. Virtually any Democrat who is elected is in thrall to local, county, and state control. In this respect, you go from the frying pan into the fire. At the very least, try to keep some stability in the area before you retire to Florida, Texas, Tennessee or Nevada!!

I wish her the best of luck. It is time for change, we here in Fulton County need to move into this new century. We no longer live in the 70's, A fresh face and new ideas are what we have been needing here for some time. personally do not see Cuomo as chasing out "conservatives" and the "working people" from upstate New York, but advancing us into the times in which we live.

She just wants to help Cuomo chase conservatives and working people out of upstate New York.

It appears that his previous opponent will also run this year & there may be more. I have a strong opinion on this. "Anybody But Farley!"
