Once again, time goes by & politicians forget. It was no accident that County offices were placed near downtown Gloversville. This came about after a year's long struggle by the late Gloversville Ward 6 Supervisor John Cotoia. He believed that downtown Gloversville businesses were being shortchanged by having almost all County employees working in downtown Johnstown. When the former St. Mary's Church was closed, their former school & community center became available & a majority of the Board of Supervisors finally agreed with Supervisor Cotoia. Until the current Board of Supervisors can be assured that any proposed reuse of the building will result in at least an equivalent economic activity in Gloversville, the building SHOULD NOT be sold.
