So here we are, contemplating whether or not rolling the dice on a Casino hopefully providing jobs and an economic boost to 7 select areas in NYS while Cuomo sits on a sure bet that WILL provide jobs and an economic boost Statewide...Hydraulic Fracturing for Natural Gas. How many other costly diversions will it take for New Yorkers to wake the*****up???

Why must we give up more valuable farm land to gambling? If they were selling the property for a normal amount it would probably be purchased and farmed. It is very upsetting, the proposed area in florida would be forever changed for the worse while you have the city of Amsterdam building new shopping centers while others are crumbling and left to rot. Gambling is not more important than that the message they are sending? Do we need all of these casinos in such a close radius to each other, is it really that far to drive to saratoga or to turning stone? I really hope the town residents put up a hard fight against this, I know I will be. :(

Lets not get all starry-eyed at the imaginary panacea of Casinos. Currently there are 18 Casino/Raceways in NYS. 9 are Racinos, 9 are Native American owned Casinos. We're late to the game. It's a nice diversion but we have School Budgets coming up.

Dirtracefan, too many can't see past the gaming part and the entertainment won't be over until well past 10 PM -- way past everybody's bed time.

Lets have a casino in Montgomery County so in addition to spending money on cigarettes and beer, they can gamble away even more money instead of buying their kids food, clothing, school supplies, etc.

It is great to see that the Montgomery County Legislature is on top of this issue. Casino's offer much more then just Gambling. Think of all the Jobs it will create, top entertainment, and great Restaurants. A Casino Brings people from all over the Country, they need gas, food and will buy merchandise from merchants in the area. This idea of Bringing a Casino to the area is a NO-BRAINER.
