The "politically correct" educational bureaucracy is aiding and abetting the disintegration of our school system. This malady is not only local - it is nationwide, particularly in the larger cities and in the areas where the family structure is weakened or virtually non-existant. The very fact that teachers have to deal with many problems which affect both "teaching time" and quality of teaching demands reforms before our system sinks to lower levels - over the last ten years, we have relinquished leadership in math and science, a shameful failure for America. It is long past time that "alternative" schools be created for those who create problems in the classroom. In so doing, teachers will be free to teach rather than play amateur psychologist to a student who is disruptive or comes from a dysfunctional background. The teachers' union itself can place enormous pressure on the federal government to "get the ball rolling" in this direction.

When have we led in math and science? According to data from the US Dept. of Education, the answer is NEVER. What we have led the world in, however, is innovation, which is directly related to our former system of education, which fostered creative thinking, not dull test prep. After a decade plus of NCLB and its unfulfilled promises, why do so many jump on another federally imposed bandwagon, RTTT?! Many people made out well on NCLB and many will on RTTT; unfortunately, it won't be our kids and schools. It will be the leaders and shareholders of certain "industries."

Patriot, in my opinion the Teachers union has no business in educating our children, Teachers do. Their union is merely a money pipeline to the DNC. As far as renovating the MC Supervisors meeting room, maybe the LH sort of forgot that a very short time ago THAT WHOLE AREA WAS UNDER WATER. REMEMBER NOW?????

Remember when teachers and school administrators could do what they had to do, access a child and a situation and neutralize it accordingly. They got to use their intelligence as well as past experiences to control the students as well as the direction of the education process. Today it is all dictated, you cannot single out a student or a problem and you surely cannot use your own best judgement to decide anything. We are headed in the worst direction possible.

JEERS to the December jobs report, It shows just how far we have NOT come during the Obama tenure. It shows how poorly the policies that they have in place are not doing anywhere nearly enough and that they must stop spending money at the rates that they are. Jobless claims down while the percentage of Americans working is dismally low. It is all part of the Pinocchio government, if you lie they will believe it... for a while!

Jobs report indeed, it really is the NO jobs report. 90+ Million able Americans out of the workforce and no longer counted so the Unemployment rate DROPS. That is considered success in liberal circles only. Whether you like it or nor not Obama's policies have taken us from a 68% Labor Participation Rate to a 62% rate and an Unemployment rate of 4.8% to what realistically is 11%+, not the made up rate today using creative formulae never used before. Even the lib media is beginning to ask questions, not that they'll ever get or give a truthful answer.

I guess O and the liberals have been able to fool the fools on Wall Street. Check your 401K or portfolio, or Limbaugh's, Hannity's or O'Reilly's. As far as job growth, corporate America has a habit of sending jobs overseas, but that is the president’s fault also.

Yeah the stock market, it used to be an accurate gauge of what was going on. Now it is profiteers that use the market to lure and trap, grabbing profits but without any reason why the value went up... it works both ways and what goes up on a lot of hot AIR will eventually correct itself. I suggest that correction is going to happen very soon, but you hang on to your Obama stocks I am sure that they are A-OK! Have you heard that the OBAMA'S Canadian website contractors have been fired... last time I checked Canada was out of this country and that web design was... not overseas but still exported... a HUGE flow of money to an out of country company! And do not tell me you have not heard of am American government outsourcing work and manufacturing to FOREIGN COUNTRIES! Just as guilty as the greedy industrialists!

How about the US Olympic team's duds being made in China

drugs: the US Olympic team 'duds' are made in the USA by Ralph Lauren. Individual sport competition "uniforms" (like for snowboarding or skiing, or whatever) are in the US and overseas, depending upon what manufacturer is making the clothes. North Face has committed to making their US Olympic clothing in the US, Burton has not. But once again, don't let the facts get in the way!! Carry on ...

adkkev, 'old news" like this is called history. BUT in today's world it's history-schmistory, who cares? people complain about the NSA snooping while they post where they are and what they are eating, drinking, and where they are driving to twitter, FB. Everybody today lives through the cellphone. At any given event nobody is "living the moment" everybody is recording the video on their phone. Sad situation.

TiredOfTax, buzz off, the market has ALWAYS been a litmus test. Now it's doing very well (some exchanges reporting record gains since the mid-90's) and as a personal testament, my own are up 24% or so.

So it looks like they're excellent indicators until Obama is president; then it's just a coincidence?

JEERS to OBAMA and his agenda!

Minutes after the American consulate in Benghazi came under assault on Sept. 11, 2012, the nation's top civilian and uniformed defense officials -- headed for a previously scheduled Oval Office session with President Obama -- were informed that the event was a "terrorist attack," declassified documents show. The new evidence raises the question of why the top military men, one of whom was a member of the president's Cabinet, allowed him and other senior Obama administration officials to press a false narrative of the Benghazi attacks for two weeks afterward.

swizzer, there is nothing to support the "great" market numbers. All the indicators that support a market rise are pointing in the other direction, but you and some others don't want to see that. A major "correction" is w-a-y overdue. When that happens, maybe I'll lend you a dollar or two. Just keep believing your BFF Barry.
