Building off campus would not benefit the school especially if the people going there have no means to drive to the school. And by the looks of Gloversville no one from there is going to school anyway! They can't even make high school let alone college.

As a graduate of FMCC, I am glad to see the college doing well and expanding. However, I think it's too bad that Swanger doesn't see the value of investing in housing projects in the surrounding cities. Building or rehabbing housing that is connected to the downtown areas of Johnstown, Gloversville or Amsterdam would have been much more beneficial to the region in my opinion. Instead, it sounds like they are building a self-contained (non taxable?) community out in the country. No doubt, it will help FMCC be competitive and that is a good thing. But beyond that, based on this article, it's hard for me to see how it's going to benefit the region's economy very much.
