This visit of the Government leaders to Fulton County is a complete ruse. The problem is that the local "leaders" and economic development representatives don't know this.

The Oneida County political machine runs the Mohawk Valley Regional Economic Development Council (MVREDC), lead by Commissioner Destito, who is in the story's photo, but not mentioned by the LH writer.

The majority of the money the MVREDC has received has gone to project in Oneida County, with mere crumbs going to the other 5 counties in this region.

The local "leaders" need to stop supporting this process by indulging these types of visits and demanding that the other counties in the region get a more equitable share of the money.

This will not happen for several reasons. 1. The Chairs of the region is from Oneida County, 2. Local leaders don’t know anything about economic development, and 3. Fulton County is lead almost solely by representatives from the non-ruling Republican Party. This will guarantee that Fulton County will only receive a de minimis amount of funding from the region and the local “leaders” will support this while taking credit for their great work.
