usedto, you offer no alternative,- no valid argument for "your side" except to berate your opposition and spew "liar, liar, pants on fire". Stop watching Al-Jazeera TV, try thinking for yourself -- it won't hurt for long.

I want to thank you Drugs for taking care of the child for us, it is a huge task giving all the back talk and gibberish that she spews! Keep up the good work. How does she decide what lies to follow? Praise be to Obama no matter how often he lies but let her twist a truth into a lie and she will repost it forever. Good luck!

and since when do you ask for information? Never!! You just spew and spew and spew. You really think anyone believes the lie that you were asking for information. I reread that post and choked on your claim that you were requesting information. You sir, are a liar!

Once again, drugs, you twist things in your favor. You stick that curly thing where the sun doesn't shine. This is what I referred to or is someone else posting uder your name....

I wasn't aware that we had "help" - we are usually on our own after disasters, with the rest of the world hoping we're circling the drain.

Once again, you are wrong..getting to be a habit

usedto, I just reread my post and I think that curly thing is a QUESTION mark. Meaning that information was requested. As usual YOU are wrong again

drugs, you finally admit commenting when you know nothing Why would you guess at something and try to pass it off as fact? What purpose does it serve to attack other countries because of what you thought? You do this all the time...enough all ready!

BoB: I agree with you and you know as well as I do that's the reason why so many countries despise the U.S., regardless of our humanitarian world wide relief efforts. "In our best interest" has always been the justification for the U.S. backing opressive regimes. All is grand until the tide turns and the oppressed get the upper hand. Then its time for us to "halt the spread of whatever" and send in the troops.

Come on Hill, you know as well as I do that both political parties have historically propped up Authoritarian, Dictatorial and other unsavory Third World craphole Govts. if it is in our best interest. Then we read articles like this. America is a generous Country and Americans are constantly getting that generosity shoved up our butts by the ungrateful third world and idiotic misinformed articles by an American such as this one represents. But in the end, we are still the first to help even in the face of danger and despite what this editor 'feels' is true, I'd like to know what the 'red tape' is too.

What the heck are you talking about LH? The US had a naval hospital ship there within 2 days and was dropping supplies from the George Washington before anyone else.. Sheesh

adkkev, for the record - that's not my disagree on your comment. I don't do that either way when somebody presents factual information. I wasn't aware that we had "help" - we are usually on our own after disasters, with the rest of the world hoping we're circling the drain.

Yes, we go back quite a way with the Philippines. I remember US president Ron Reagan supporting puppet Dictator Ferdinand Marcos in a rigged election back in the mid-eighties, even after US observers reported election fraud and that Marcos stole the election. Apparently the strategic location of U.S.Clark Air Base and Subic Naval Base trumped democracy. Support for humanitarian aid has also trumped everybody's cry for isolationanism. Leave it to the press to politicize it.

drugs: foreign aid to the US after Katrina=$854 million not including the offers of aid from not-so-friendly countries like Cuba; for the BP oil spill it was less mainly due to the Obama administration's delay in suspending the Jones Act (law specifies the use of US flagged vessels for the delivery of the kind of equipment/goods that would have aided in the spill recovery).

maybe it's time to start keeping score. Was there any world wide effort to help with Katrina, Sandy, the fires on the west coast, or the floods in Colorado???? -- BUT that is not the way Americans are, keep calling us names and tell us how much you hate us and while you are doing that WE help your people and try our best to "fix" what mother nature has done to you.

Just another corporate editorial, edited somewhat from the original that appeared in other newspapers late last week. It would be far more genuine if the specifics of the allegation of such red tape were listed.

Vague and pointless. Specifically, what red tape? What, exactly, is the problem?

There are 1000 US Marines over there right now. The Navy has an aircraft carrier and a strike group there to airlift supplies by helicopter. The American Red Cross is there. The US shipped tons of rice to Sri Lanka to be stored in anticipation of natural disasters in Asia.

So, exactly what red tape is bogging down the process?

57... I did not read where the article laid the blame on President Obama... he usually is in the way of things going right but, so far he has stayed clear of blame so far on this issue. But give it time, he will be out there lying and finding ways to bungle this one yet!

Do not blame Obama, just lie every other problem and scandal he won't find out about it until he watches FOX news.
