I have said in other threads that Common Core is 1930s Germany. The standards are lower than a snake's belly, and it teaches that all is for the collective. It needs to go away. We need to start teaching kids to think for themselves, like was done in years past. Education needs to be returned to the standards of 50yrs. ago. Hold them back a grade now and then until they learn the material. It worked before, it will work again.

Hitler said in a speech on November 6, 1933,"When an opponent declares, 'I will not come over to your side,' "I calmly say, 'Your child belongs to us already. . . . What are you? You will pass on. Your descendants, however, now stand in the new camp. In a short time they will know nothing else but this new community.'" And on May 1, 1937, [Hitler] declared, "This new Reich will give its youth to no one, but will itself take youth and give to youth its own education and its own upbringing."

Common Core is structured so that parents will not be able to instruct their own children and children will be forced to learn, not only what but also how, as the government directs.

Let's be honest, the rest of the WORLD uses the metric system. The USA, GB, Liberia and Burma are the only countries of the 195 in the world using the english system. A moot point to use as an example of our degrading education in this country, state specifically. Rolling out common core in the middle of a semester may not have been the best idea, granted, but maybe we're falling behind on an international level, educationally. Its here, and like most things it's get on board or get out of the way.

This common core stuff is ridiculous. Not only are they confusing the kids with it, they are confusing the adults. It took me over an hour to figure out what the homework sheet was requiring for my FIRST grader. Now, there is nothing wrong with the way we were taught when we were younger it's the parents that just don't take time with their kids anymore. Failing schools are not due to curriculum for goodness sake. We need to get common core out of our schools... I agree with the man who had said it will fail like when they taught metric.. my son is not a guinea pig to try new ways of learning on, he is a developing 6.5 yr old that is highly dependent on his education right now and should not be crying due to lack of understanding when it comes to his homework. He's only going to hate school more and more and resist going as he gets older. Sorry for the long babble..
