Since the LH refused to give you any list I will try. Have your heating system serviced, also keep a3 foot wide area around any and all heating units clear and do not store anything on your heating units, do not store any gas or fuel oil or propane tanks stored in the same area of heating units. Get smoke detectors and check them monthly, get all your family together and have fire drills and make sure everyone knows the escape routes and have one place out of the house should a fire happen and never take the time to call for help in the house where is and when the police and fire people get there let only one member of your family speak to the police and fire people about where everyone in your family is or would normally be if they were in the house. Hope these ideas help you stay safe.

In consideration of fire safety, now is the time to keep check on your neighbors who might be challenged. Check often to be sure they are safe and they just might enjoy the extra company.
