Monuments must be open

November 13, 2013

Sometimes, our elected and appointed government officials just do not think. It happened just a few weeks ago, during the so-called “government shutdown....

George Will -"The move to barricade the World War II memorial reveals the mentality of a tin-pot dictator. The limited government shutdown did not need to affect the memorial because it is open 24 hours, without gates and often without guards. But to turn public opinion in his favor, Obama’s goons trucked in barricades to keep out World War II vets and other visitors. By one estimate, the barricades and workers cost $100,000. The same punish-the-people attitude led to shutdowns of other parks and historic sites that get no federal funding. “We’ve been told to make life as difficult for people as we can. It’s disgusting,” a Park Service ranger told The Washington Times. The ranger cited the order to close the parking lot at George Washington’s home in Mount Vernon so visitors couldn’t use it. The cheap trick captured the contrast between a revered president and the current one."

Louisiana Senator Elbert Guillory (R-Opelousas) explains why he recently switched from the Democrat Party to the Republican Party. He discusses the history of the Republican Party, founded as an Abolitionist Movement in 1854. Guillory talks about how the welfare state is only a mechanism for politicians to control the black community. Have a look at his youtube video. I agree whole-heartedly with his words.

I wonder how the employer mandate will go after the year delay... it is going to be pandemonium. You can say what you like but the democrats OWN the trouble we are in today, as progressives point out it should be the house of reps that control the purse strings... who controlled the house of reps a full two years before Obama was elected? Yup it was democrats!

Republicans shut down the government and then blame the President for the results. Just like they ruined the economy and then blamed the President because he didn’t clean up their mess fast enough. Let’s hope the “dim bulbs” voting in the next election remember who had the government shut down and potential economic ruin as their primary means of negotiating on two occasions (so far). Party over people will eventually ruin the Republicans. Letting the extremist tail wag the dog isn’t good for the Republican Party or the country. It’s unfortunate that the learning curve appears to be long and steep.

There were a few people who highlighted Obama's past, his associations with people who were not US loving and his reading list before he decided to run for president. Because everyone was afraid of being called a racist, no one questioned his background.

Not his 'light' drugs, there is none in him. It's more like his 'darkness'. That, I think, is his appeal to libs. Those lights came from the sycophantic media not obama or his dim bulb followers.

Yes BoB, we were warned 5 days before the first election, but the sheeple were blinded by his light. And here we are over 5 years later and we still know less about him than was common knowledge about the candidates for mayor.

But it wasn't political... just didn't have the money to keep open those worthless sites and parks. Not Obama he wouldn't be political.

More money was spent to keep people out than to maintain the "open air" monuments. This is spiteful, and was meant to hurt the citizens. There is no hope for this change.
