Consider endangerment

October 28, 2013

U.S. Supreme Court justices already have ruled that President Barack Obama’s Environmental Protection Agency has the authority to shut down coal-fired power plants....

Unless you live in another country, it is OUR Environmental Protection Agency. The EPA Administrator is appointed by the President but requires Senate confirmation.

If we shut down the EPA, we'll probably save about 2 million jobs which would be needlessly lost - how "bout them apples?! An agency which has far, far overreached its imprimatur.

Do you remember what it was like before the EPA? The air pollution and water pollution? Lead in our gasoline? Heavy metals in our drinking water? DDT? Love Canal and other toxic waste dumps? All proof that we cannot rely on corporations to police themselves. It must be done by the federal government.

This editor, like me, is no expert on environmental science. This is a case where we should rely on science and the courts to sort it out, in my opinion.

Yes Dave, all of that is true and was good. Now they have nothing to do so they invent crisis.

However, the real issue is how real is this Climate Change "threat"? Many scientist who spend hours poring over the data conclude the threat is not that bad. Good science creates a hypothesis that is validated with mathematical models and real world observation to become a theory. In the case of AGW, the models have failed and the hypothesis has not been validated.

I believe that we need the EPA or something like it. But I believe that the EPA needs to have its authority cut. Because in my opinion they have either gone way to far in some cases.

Dave, actually lead in the gasoline was a good thing, and yea ethanol in gasoline is bad. The EPA has outlived its usefulness and it is time for it to go away. Too many self created crisis. Climate change?? there is really not much we as humans or only the US of A EPA can do that will significantly impact the process. It is all one big smoke enema.

The vast majority of climatologists acknowledge that global warming and climate change are not only real, but caused by man made pollution, such as that from coal fired power plants, the biggest contributor to air pollution in the country.

Dave, the Earth is a closed environment - kind of like a terrarium. The US attempt to make the air pure is akin to trying to empty the Atlantic ocean with a sand bucket. The effects of burning coal are minimal, if even measurable.

Just another glitch in the Obama glitch machine. When they get this fixed it will be too late for the grandkids... maybe even their grandkids. There is a huge benefit to controlling pollution but there is huge problems with TOTAL control over EVERYTHING!

Look out don't let the pendulum hit you. We tend to go from one extreme to another. By the way trolls have feelings too.

Dave - Please check your "facts". Why has our average temperature declined bt 0.5 degrees since 1975??

The DDT scare was riled up by Rachel Carson's "Silent Spring". She was a crafty wordsmith with no scientific background. It is a fact that malaria could have been wiped out if not for the made up scare. Also bird eggs were not damaged by DDT. It is a fact that raptors were endangered far before the invention of DDT. The recent flourishing of bed bugs in the hotel industry could be stopped in its tracks if scientists had their say instead of people who think they know science. DDT is the bogey man of the uninformed.

Patriot: You obviously read that in a conservative article. Don't you know that Al Gore said the earth is warming. I heard him say it as he stood in front of his private jet that he paid for with his proceeds from selling his TV network to Al Jazeera (which is funded with Saudi oil money.) Jeez he is a smart guy. Wish I had thought of the internet before he invented it.

Ok dave, you are so full of crap, it's inexcusable and getting sickening. With a normal thinking person I would ask for the names of the vast numbers of Climatologists you mentioned but I know you can't because you're just repeating made up s*it from other angry poorly informed extremist libs like yourself.

watch the disagrees pile up on this -

FACT - the opening scene of ice falling off a glacier in Big Al's movie AN INCONVIENENT TRUTH is the exact same computer generated scene as the opening of the sci-fi flick DAY AFTER TOMORROW

and many of you people bought his snake oil.

Anna: I suggest you do some research before stating that Rachel Carson had no scientific background. And do some research about DDT - it's use against malaria was NOT banned, the ban was for agricultural use in the US. And DDT lost its effectiveness against malaria because of the ability of the mosquito to adapt to pesticide use (genetics).

Now how can you argue with Yukons post? I believe that his insight is intrinsic. While you are on this information spree what ever happened to the promise that Obama would not add a single dime to the deficit and that he would half the deficit in his first term in office. You simply cannot disagree with this post!

Dave, the climate is always changing, we just don't have anything to do with it but the sun does. If you believe YOU are the problem then please leave. Before you do, give us the names of those Climatologists. Make them up, like everything else you puke out here. We'll take your word for it, I promise(cough cough).
