Cut tax rate in Gloversville

Mayor Dayton King recently said he plans to propose a 2 percent property tax reduction when he presents the Common Council with his proposed 2014 city budget. The tax relief is long overdue....

If the tax rate was reasonable, it seems that you would stand a much better chance of attracting business... then money would flow and this situation may alleviate itself. Or we can go Obama and the democrat way and tax the business chances right out of the area!

Makes me smile. I last owned a home in Gloversville in 1996. At that time my city, county, school taxes plus homeowner's insurance were $100.00 per week ($5200./year)for a large home on a small lot w/one car garage. Today (17 years later) a small home on 20 acres w/3-car garage for $26./week. (Ins. $1100./year. Taxes $256./year.)
