Tax relief needs chance

October 13, 2013

Recently, Gov. Andrew Cuomo unveiled a new tax-relief commission that will look at a host of taxes, including business taxes, and ways to simplify the state’s tax code....

Tax relief would actually bring in more tax revenue because people would want to move here and do business. Currently, businesses and landowners are leaving the state because of this burden.

If the governor really wants property tax relief for New Yorkers then he needs to stop the unfunded mandates, the tax cap should be a real cap and no way to over ride it as there is now. next he should put an end to the PILOT programs because they take much taxes away from local municipalities while the business walks away with large profits. I have no problem with giving new businesses a tax break to get them to locate here but giving them PILOTS that only gives the local municipality only a few pennies as the Housing project in the north end of Gloversville and also make the people who build these projects to repair any damage they did during the construction as they did on Northern Terrace in Gloversville.

You cannot have TAX RELIEF when you continue to grow government and expensive policies. We need to start at cutting and saving, the tax reductions will then take care of themselves.

Does anybody really believe this is serious? Now 2 more Commissions are getting fed taxpayer dollars instead of one, that's a good thing for the people on the commission but not for the taxpayers who have been screaming for years about relief from the absurd mandates and property taxes while commission after commission says the same things? "There is nowhere for New York state to go but up". Yeah, FURTHER up the creek.

Tax relief? Not as long as we have the NYC politicians running the show. I'll believe it (tax relief) when I see it. Probably won't be in my lifetime.

You can't even start to get your school taxes under control until you vote down a school budget. Any tax relief approved in Albany starts with you rejecting your school budgets. As long as you keep passing budgets your taxes will continue to rise. If you reject the budget twice then all funding stays at the previous years levels.. NO TAX INCREASE... Get it!!!
