If the federal government is going to aid even a single person they should be held to help EVERY SINGLE PERSON. Just because the entire event may not have reached some catastrophic number the people affected have lost everything that they had. I personally believe that our government should not be an insurance provider and therefore should have helped no one. But the precedent has been set so help them all!

Umm shouldn't they have to have flood insurance ? If they were flooded out 7 years ago then their insurance company would force a rider if they rebuilt.. If you chose to build on a flood prone area then get proper insurance..

On October 13, 2012, President Obama boasted to Americans in his weekly address that he refused to “let Detroit go bankrupt.” “[W]e refused to throw in the towel and do nothing,” Obama said. “We refused to let Detroit go bankrupt, I bet on American workers, and American ingenuity and three years later that bet is paying off in a big way.” Today... Detroit—The city of Detroit filed the largest municipal bankruptcy case in U.S. history Thursday afternoon, culminating a decades-long slide that transformed the nation’s iconic industrial town into a model of urban decline crippled by population loss, a dwindling tax base and financial problems. The 16-page petition was filed in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Detroit.

Glad to see some common sense posts on this matter. What happened to the spirit of rugged self determination that made this country great? It's been replaced by "help me govt. " Every time the going gets rough. Agreewith tired, govt should help no one, that's what insurance, family, friends, neighbors and charities are for. If the govt would get off our backs with lower taxes and regulations, then we'd all have more time to help each other out and more money to donate to charity in a crises.

Disc, the entire country is now on the same plan to self destruct. Spend everything as quickly as you can is the liberal war cry! Greedy unions, no problem lets double their retirements no matter how poorly they preform their jobs. You have to take care of all of those lowly government workers!
