Yes CHEERS to the relay for life! It was heartwarming to see the community come together to support people stricken with this horrible disease. I hope that those involved enjoyed a respite from their problems and that someday we learn how to make cancer a thing of the past!

If the county has $220,000 grant from the state department of Transportation then we should be using it to properly maintain our streets and roads all over the county. What good will the Rail Trail do for us if we cannot use our streets and roads that we already have because we just had to spend that money to build a rail trail for only a few people to use? fix our streets and roads first. It is no wonder that we don't have companies looking to move here because when they see that we have neglected our streets and roads and allowed so many old buildings to go unmaintained to the point that many are of no use to anyone now. If we are not going to use that $220,000 to maintain our streets and roads how about using it to help many of the elderly to make repairs to their homes that are needed and they can not afford?

How many people actually use this rail trail? 100? 200? One has to question the wisdom of investing money into something so few people use.

"The county has about $220,000 available in trail grant funding through the state Department of Transportation, ............."

It looks like the $$$ can be used for trails and nothing else. If that is the case, there is no reason to hold on to it. Also, I have no idea how many use the trail, but whatever the number IMO they are entitled to have the $$$ earmarked for it it spent on it.

We have sidewalks to walk or jog on. 220,000 can be spent on other things that need repair.

That is exactly the problem Bill, why does the money have to go to waste? Why is it mandated to be spent on a frivolous idea? Why can't we spend taxpayer money on something that is smart for a change? This is why we need to change the way things are done in this state. It encourages waste and fraud at every level, actually mandates it. Gotta change it!

Big CHEERS to the Redskins for not being bullied by the Political Correctness movement. Funny how this only became offensive recently and the team has been around for as long as I can remember with no body crying. It is just a shame that so many schools have been beaten down by the PC crowd.

Get off your fat duffs and use the trail.. It's a wonderful asset that many many people use everyday, just because you can't get up from your computer to complain doesn't mean the rest of us have to suffer..LOL

As a sports fan I cannot see why having a reasonably successful football team named after your ancestry. Do you think that redskin fans hate redskins? It is time for some to grow a lot thicker skin as every slightly derogatory term is not intended to be about them. But if you insist to make everything about racism that isn't... just who is the true racist?

TOT: It doesn't matter what they call a team unless it is your ancestery that is being insulted. They don't have a team nicknamed named the blackies, slant eyes, polacks or ****, and rightfully so. With your logic it would be OK if they did, as long as the beer guzzling fans liked them.

Hill, so you are a card carrying member of the Politically Correct Police???? Somehow I really don't think that being offensive was one of the reasons to pick the team name. But some offences are not applied universally. It is only racist and offensive when a Caucasian person utters the "N-word", yet "in da hood" that is about every other word.

If being sensitive to other people in terms of not using racial/ethnic slurs is being PC, I am guilty as charged. However, I reserve the right to exclude bigots and several right-wingers phonies from the courtesy of being PC. Druggy, if you choose to have Archie Bunker as a role model, so be it.

Hey Hill, you know all those hateful names you listed, if they are between friends then they are a joke but from someone you hate they are fighting words. Can you tell me then who has the hate, the name callers or the callees? My point that progressives cannot grasp is, if my intention was to insult, then it is an insult. If I do not mean it as an insult in any way shape or form... why do YOU have to call it one? Because you are looking to see the hate, not the love in mankind.

PS I would not see any reference to my ethnicity as an argumentative statement. Except when an enemy says it. And he could say "I love you man" and I would want to punch his lights out.

OK Hill, but tell me why some of this "stuff" wasn't offensive years ago???? PC has been a big part of the downward spiral our country is in. "We are not at war with Islam" like Barry says. But somebody forgot to tell them that, they still want to destroy the American way. I don't believe we should deliberately make offending everybody a priority, but lately everything is offensive to somebody and their feelings get hurt and we have to show love and compassion. Nobody ever cared when my feelings got hurt, nobody ever apologized and corrected anything. Why are we suddenly the big boo-boo kissers and tear wipers????

A $220,000 grant to improve the rail trail cannot be used for any other purpose but on the trail. As for the deteriorating roads, that was supposed to be fixed by the first Stimulus by the Obama Administration. So much for "shovel ready".

Annarondac, Where did you find that in the stimulus? Why is it that we must pay big money for something only a few use. And Portnoy go ahead and let the roads fill up with large pot holes and then when the municipality gets sued and you will again pay large bills and what if one of your family members end up getting hurt because of the large potholes that you wanted, then that would just prove that your not as smart as you think with your smart ideas.

Druggy:...."Nobody ever cared when my feelings got hurt, nobody ever apologized and corrected anything." Correction, "you" cared, and you are somebody. You can either rise above the hate, or be a *ack *ss like those who got under your skin. If you truly believe it wasn't offensive years ago, I'll loan you a crow-bar so you can yank your head out of you know where.

TOT: .... "Can you tell me then who has the hate, the name callers or the callees?" That's an easy one, YOU have the hate, no question about it, and you are getting progressively worse. You need to slip you mind into neutral for a while before you blow a valve.
