A while back I read that when China bought a number of turbine generators from GE, part of the deal was for all the details and blueprints to be included. We give GE tax credits for R&D, they sell the years of research to China for a profit. Care to blow of any steam about that one Druggy?

swizzer, ummmmmm NO. I worked in the power generating industry for a bunch of years. Low profit margin ??? Do you know how much a steam turbine-generator costs???? and it is a 10 year lead time from the idea of buying one and actually using the thing ??

drugsrus, I AM claiming $500 million is small WHEN YOU COMPARE IT TO THE PRODUCT they produce.

An airplane can cost $100 million dollars EACH. Think about how many of those they would need to produce and still make only $500 million.

NOW do you see what low-margin means?

swizzer, I did not say that you thought they should move, nor did you say they were losing money. You did imply that a half billion dollars is a paltry sum for a net profit.

swizzer, it was about 2 yrs. ago that all that Boeing stuff happened. as you have been told 100's of times LOOK IT UP FOR YOURSELF.

and they may not have foreseen AK-47s, BUT they did lay out a set of values and principles that IF they were adhered to today. there wouldn't be half the problems we now see. Let's just start with career politicians who expect to be paid for going to work.

taxtired, I never claimed to be able to interpret what the Founding Fathers were thinking.

However I am a rational human being, and like most people able to interpret basic logic, and going by what we have learned of the Founding Fathers from what has been written about them and what they themselves wrote, it can easily be deduced that that the Fathers cleary saw a nation that was evolving and changing seemingly on a day by day basis.

They most certainly did not think of AK-47's though.

It remains to be understood where you read things that simply do not exist.

swizzer, so your logic is that Boeing should make the move south to get away from those high union wages to make more money by paying the people who actually make the airplanes that produce the company's income less money so that the corporate elite, who are already making millions, can be paid more money. But it's not all for greed, right?

and swizzer in case you forgot (or didn't know in the first place) the founders were shooting long before the Second Amendment was passed. They were fighting for liberty and freedom from a tyrannical out of control government. Like the one we have is getting to be. Even without your pal Barry.

swizzerthat is net , AFTER all the utility bills, taxes, and salaries are paid. AFTER the cost of materials is taken into account, AFTER building repairs and maintenance, landscape (lawn mowing),car and truck fleet expenses are paid. They sure as h-e-l-l aren't losing money.

Unions - I've been on both sides and the problem with unions is at the top. Union wages are almost enough so you don't need a second job to survive.

Everybody wants to be like the crooks on Wall Street who should be locked up.

drugsrus, $500 million is not a lot of money when you consider the products Boeing makes. It's one of the lowest-margin revenue-to-net businesses to be in unfortunately. Although I do think unions are a big, BIG part of what's wrong with our country today. And it's not a Obama thing, as it's been happening for decades.

TiredOfTax, not only about guns, but also about 'personal choices' right?

You mean 'personal choices' like the right to choose or right to life, right? Or right to freedoms like not being fingerprinted for something as simple as opening a checking account, right?

cont'd -- Yup, I don't have to share the pie. But I get full and what do I do with the rest?? Today's mindset is to put it in the 'fridge until it grows hair then toss it. IT'S MY PIE DAM**T. The responsible thing to do would be to share what's left especially if I've had enough. It's a big pie.

While you are right Hill, it seems that somewhere the sense of "having enough" went out the window. With freedom comes responsibility. Boeing, after being HQ'd in the Seattle Wa. area for so many years (and making a decent profit)has a responsibility to the rest of the population in the area that depends on those Boeing employees for their livelihood. It was wrong for the NLRB to stop them from moving to Alabama on lots of levels, but where was the corporate mindset in seeking to leave the area, spend how much $$ to replicate the mfg. facilities to "get away from the high union wages"??? Boeing's profit the previous year was $500 million.

Druggy: News Flash.... "We the people" includes all people, not just conservative WASPs with a dream of returning to the days of "Leave it to Beaver" and George Wallace. The america you love is the one where the deck is stacked in your favor and you don't have to share a piece of the pie.

swizzer, where in that post did I say anything about guns????? Your first sentence is why they would be shooting,- mostly at the jerks in Washington who have made a career out of milking the government for all they can. Publius would be writing essays chastising the rest of the population for allowing things to get so far out of hand and for not being more involved as citizens.

Now sit down and have another glass of Barry's Koolade. or try the new Bloomy flavor.

It is not only about the guns, it is about personal choices, personal freedoms and rights. Can you tell me that you liberals believe what you twist our posts to say? I hate our country? Never once have I said that. Unlike Michelle Obama who "for once in her adult life was proud of America". We proved that we were not racist, they have proven that they are. Hilltopper wants people to move because we do not want to accept the changes in the moral fibre and the direction that our country has taken. I suppose that the ones that should move away are the people that were not satisfied with the greatest country in the world and are now doing the worst possible changes to our great country, it is them that need to go. Not the backbone of the country not the taxpaying hard working Americans that have enough pride to not sit back and take what our country will give... but continue to pay what it takes to keep America strong.

drugsrus, the Founding Fathers would also have been about 300 years old and would have been able to see that the country they helped to found has changed and that the dynamic is far from what it was back then.

No one is attempting to take away your guns altogether. It's called limiting so as to not have a society that's got more guns than people, and so more than needed.

It seems that some have forgotten the founding documents "Government of the people, by the people and for the people... " Government exists because WE THE PEOPLE allow it to exist. THEY work for us -- We do NOT work for them.

I'll say it again --The founders would have been shooting by now

ToT, I think the point HT is trying to make, among others, is that you claim you 'love' the country, when in fact you don't. This is evidenced in your hasty willingness to deny people their rights while claiming that trimming down gun access is a form of trampling the Constitution.

Hilltopper that is exactly my point, it is OUR government it should be what WE want it to be. We should not have to mover from the country that we love to get the government that we can trust. Ours should be the worlds most trustworthy. It has become so fraught with corruption and deception that NOBODY can trust that OUR government will do the right thing. It should but it does not and it is getting WORSE ALL THE TIME and Obama is the cheerleader!
