Pavone got plenty of notice for making 131K his last year on the job. Never one to be camera shy, how better to prove your worth than by endless photos in the LH, such as with your students dressed as Pilgrims, turkeys, or native Americans? If DeMi and Pickus can do it in their spare time, they either have way too much spare time, or the demands at Park Terrace aren't that time consuming. Thank you Mr. Vanyo for making that clear. But beware, that honest approach will get you nowhere when its time for a new contract. Don't unpack your suitcase yet.

No matter what side the welfare is going it should buy commitment to vote democrat. But it should be called something other than tax freedom day, like pay off the government day or buy the vote day...

IF it were up to me...............i would have ONE Principal per school district. YES you do not need all these $135K people sucking down $$$$ and bennies...feet up on their desks (B CUZ they do not have enuf to do on a day to day basis. WE are #1 in the WORLD payin per student in $$$$$ and we are in the 24 to 26 around the world in turning out KNOWLEGABLE (intelligent students). We are not getting the right bang for each buck. Thats a fact. And as for high skilled workers (it always takes less than a week to fill the H-1B visas for the skilled workers our ed system should be PROVIDING for all this money spent.....whats that about.....all you over paid PRINCIPALS AND High paid superintendents.

add another JEER -Local schools ready students for new state tests - What good does it do to prepare the kiddies for a state evaluation test ?? The result is an artificial score. The tests should be done by the state in ambush style. Just show up and test. That way they get a real feel on how much the kiddies are really learning.

@Bob Crane - State Education law requires districts to have an administrator in each building.....Meco/McNab share one only because of a variance years ago.

Editor, why is it the business of the Leader Herald or anyone else as to the detailed reason an interim principal resigned her position? According to your editorial she said she resigned due to a difference of opinion with the superintendent. Enough said.

Anybody ever use "****gasbuddy****"? You can see reported gas prices all around town on a map. If you zoom out you can see gas prices represented by color: red high, green low. Just another example of how New York abuses it's taxing authority.

This should be a simple question for those that know the system as some of you seem to. If 3 schools are all in one large building, like Fonda, how many principals are required by State Education Law?

Abe: Three, which is how many they have. Here's a question for you. To save spring sports the coaches volunteered, as did Brown's, to do it without pay. Who volunteered to pay for the fuel?

Don't know if I heard about gas, officials or the regional school option lately. I am just waiting to see how next years budget is going to be so we can decide if we are going to send to FM for early admit instead.

Some figures for you. In 2010, the top 1% paid almost as much in taxes (37.4%) as the bottom 95% (40.9%). Yet the top 1% earned only 18.9% of the income. 58 million returns had zero or NEGATIVE tax liability. So let’s talk about “fair share.” Finally, there’s “fair share” heroes Obama & Biden. Each has insisted paying higher taxes was “patriotic.” Both O & Joe paid the same fed tax rate for 2012. 30%? 35%? 39.6%? NO IT WAS JUST 18.4%! Fair share?

JEERS TO A RAIN TAX!! The "storm management fee," passed by the Maryland state legislature in 2012, will go into effect following a decree from Democrat Gov. Martin O'Malley. In 2010 the Obama administration's Environmental Protection Agency ordered Maryland to reduce stormwater runoff into the Chesapeake Bay so that nitrogen levels fall 22 percent and phosphorus falls 15 percent from current amounts. The price tag: $14.8 billion. And where do we get the $14.8 billion? By taxing so-called "impervious surfaces," anything that prevents rain water from seeping into the earth (roofs, driveways, patios, sidewalks, etc.) thereby causing stormwater run off. In other words, a rain tax.

Jeers to Tom DiiMezza for being your typical politician: "AMSTERDAM - Supervisor Thomas DiMezza failed to maintain timely or accurate accounting records in the town, according to a state comptroller's audit."

PleaseGetAClue, I thought DiMezza was a tax accountant. That means he has the training to make sure things are run the way they are supposed to be. Or so I assumed. I guess that also means he can 'fix' things just as easily :)

Dont make Kathy Dougherty out to be some martyr now. If you want to do some 'true' reporting and digging. Go back up to Northville and start snooping around and find out why she 'really' left Northville when she did. She may in fact be the one in the right here...anything that the involves the Gloversville AD isnt on the up and up, no question about that...but her departure from Northville was not just someone looking for a change in life. Not at all.

JEERS TO BUYING SUPPORT for the federal gun law! Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said Tuesday that Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid is making Republicans an "offer" on the legislation, without going into detail. Reid on Tuesday also disputed the notion that the legislation had lost momentum.
