Cheers to the recent cold wave. For if the Summer heat and Super storm sandy because if they were proof of Global Warming then this is proof it is over.

Cheers to not enough votes: A proposed ban on sales of assault weapons would be defeated in the U.S. Senate unless some lawmakers changed their current views, based on a Bloomberg review of recent lawmaker statements and interviews At least six of the 55 senators in the Democratic caucus have expressed skepticism or outright opposition to a ban, the review found. That means Democrats wouldn't have a 51-vote majority to pass the measure, let alone the 60 needed to break a Republican filibuster to bring it to a floor vote. BUT WHAT IF THEY HOLD A VOTE AT 2:00 AM? Maybe it will pass if they only give them 6 minutes to read it first!

Although this is not directly related to the "Cheers & Jeers" I'm questioning where the $10,000. gets spent that was donated for the community skating rink from the Littauer Foundation? This was mentioned in the front page article regarding the dispute over paying for the sign? The whole thing involving the recreation department reminds me of all that was donated by various foundations towards the pool without success. I think a whole lot more oversight needs to go into the spending of these funds so generously & sincerely meant to benefit the community & especially the youth. WAKE UP GLOVERSVILLE - doesn't anyone question where 10 grand goes & sure seems like an adequate amount for a winter skating rink !!!!

Jeers to stimu-less! Have you heard much about President Obama’s $787,000,000,000 economic “stimulus” (now estimated to cost $831,000,000,000) lately? In its last report, published in 2011, the president’s own Council of Economic Advisors released an estimate showing that, for every $317,000 in “stimulus” spending that had by then gone out the door, only one job had been created or saved. Even in Washington, that’s not considered good bang for the buck. Moreover, that was the fifth consecutive “stimulus” report that showed this number getting progressively worse. Alas, that was the last report we’ve seen. Never mind that Section 1513 of the “stimulus” legislation, which Obama spearheaded and signed into law, requires the executive branch to submit a new report every three months. It reads: “In consultation with the Director of the Office of Management and Budget and the Secretary of the Treasury, the Chairperson of the Council of Economic Advisers shall submit quarterly reports.

Jeers to people thinking that this isn't a "Cheers and Jeers". The reason that I have to post here ON TOPIC (unlike bs) is because of some peoples insistence on attacking people withing the article under a false name. It was quite cowardly to do so and I believe gave the newspaper a problem that could have been legally challenging. I remember quite a dew times that got off target ion the past. But unlike RS and his 4 other names I let people talk and talk back to them, how else would you know that you are wrong?

You two are one and the same, thanks for reading though, it is what makes it all worth while. And they day that insulting libs cannot learn anything... Keep up the work and you will catch up in a few years! By the way, I do not hate democrats, just everything that they have done since they were given the chance to do something... now just look at how they have wasted the chance. Under leader Obama there are no winners, just people fortunate enough to get a share of what earning people have without having to lift a finger except to vote democrat.

Hey usedto, did you hear that Obamas new path to citizenship passes millions of brand new wanters directly through the unemployment office and straight to free healthcare? On another topic, I was looking at the reduced numbers of worshipers that bowed in awe at the Obama inauguration and was overwhelmed first by the greatly reduced numbers but still over a million and then by the fact that out of that million people that only 4 of them lost a days work. Speaks volumes that he has succeed to get his supporters what they needed so they could worship him that day.
