Youth softball team to compete in tourney
JOHNSTOWN — The Johnstown Girls Softball League will be sending a team to play in the Winter Blast Softball Tournament at the Adirondack Sports Dome in Queensbury today and Sunday. This tournament will be comprised of some of several teams from around the Northeast including teams from Long Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York. The 14-and-younger Johnstown team will include pitchers MaryBeth DeCuyke, Courtney Rosser and Whitney Ostrander. The Johnstown defense will be led by Lindsay Achzet, Cassandra Eggleston and Bailey Archinal, according to a news release. This year Johnstown will be fielding one or two teams in the Hudson Mohawk Travel League with girls from around Fulton-Montgomery counties.

JOHNSTOWN — The Johnstown softball team will host a fundraising pancake breakfast Sunday at Applebee’s.
The breakfast will start at 8 a.m. and end at 10.
Holland Meadows to host ladies tourney
GLOVERSVILLE – Holland Meadows Golf Course will host a ladies’ four-player scramble indoor golf tournament Saturday at 1 p.m.
The course will be the Kapalua Village 18 holes.
23rd Annual Winter Wimp race to be run
HAGAMAN — The Fulmont Roadrunners Club’s annual Winter Wimp foot race will take place snow or shine Jan. 10 at 1 p.m.
This will be the 23rd running of the race, at which competitors may run 2.2 or 4.
Hall of Fame dinner scheduled for Feb. 7
AMSTERDAM — Marist College baseball coach Dennis Healy and N.Y. Mets minor leaguer Eric Beaulac will be inducted into the Mohawks side of the Amsterdam Baseball/Mohawks Baseball Hall of Fame at the induction dinner Feb. 7 at Crystal Ristorante.
