Campsites abound throughout the area

Wilderness camping with no frills can be accessed at various trails like this one leading to Nine Corners Lake in the town of Caroga in May.
With gas at $4 per gallon and threatening to go to $5 by mid summer, many vacationers may choose to stay nearer home and use one of the many campsites available in the area.
Royal Mountain Campsite
It’s the 20th season for Tom and Joan Dudley at Royal Mountain Campsite in Ephratah. Their slogan, “We specialize in happy campers,” is helped along by the presence of Granny’s Ice Cream on the site, which is a local favorite spot for snacks.
Fulton County Tourism Director Alison Swartz said, “Some people rough it and some people ‘go all out.’ It’s your choice at Royal Mountain Campsites.”
Located on Route 29, nine miles west of Johnstown, Royal Mountain Campsite has a relaxed atmosphere hidden at the base of Royal Mountain on the border of the Adirondack Park, Swartz said. It’s situated behind acres of pines where road traffic can’t be heard.
