Josh Hamilton: A Star is Reborn
Every so often in sports, a story comes along that is too gripping to ignore. This baseball season, it seems one of those stories is developing in front of our very eyes. An outfielder for the Texas Rangers, Josh Hamilton, is putting up numbers that are simply too amazing to believe. At the All-Star break, the 27-year-old outfielder was batting .310 with 21 home runs and an astonishing 95 RBIs. Hamilton played for the Cincinnati Reds last season, putting together a solid rookie campaign. But the start to his 2008 season has people from all over the country paying attention. For Hamilton, though, the road to the majors and the success he now enjoys, has been far from easy. Following his senior season at Athens Drive High School in Raleigh, N.C., Hamilton was named the national high school player of the year and was drafted by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. During high school, Hamilton was a left-handed pitcher who often hit 96 mph on the radar gun.
