Mayfield’s Edwards named WAC MVP

EllisMayfield outside hitter Kacie Edwards (21) spikes the ball against Canajoharie’s Jane Boppert (13) during the championship match of the Western Athletic Conference tournament. Edwards was named the WAC Most Valuable Player. Edwards shared the WAC North MVP with teammate Cassi Brancato and Boppert was selected the WAC South co-MVP.
Senior Kacie Edwards was an intricate part of the Mayfield Lady Panthers’ undefeated run through the Western Athletic Conference. In recognition of her yearlong standout performance, Edwards was named the Western Athletic Conference Most Valuable Player. She was also selected as co-MVP in the WAC North with teammate Cassi Brancato, while Schenectdady Christian’s Heidi Frazer and Canajoharie’s Jane Boppert shared the South MVP honors. The Lady Panthers Christie Showers and Galway’s Karenna Martin shared the North MVP hitter honors, while Frazer was honored as the South’s top hitter. Canajoharie’s Caitlyn Mosher was awarded the South’s Most Valuable Setter honor and Galway’s Katie Lasak was honored from the North division. Fonda-Fultonville’s Kate Tiedemann was recognized as the WAC North’s most valuable defensive player. Duanesburg’s Aliza Fields and Berne-Knox-Westerlo’s Christina North shared the South’s defensive honor.
