Fonda Speedway will try to answer a question some fans have had over the years “Which is faster, an IMCA modified or a Pro Stock?” Saturday the top five Pro Stocks and top five IMCAs in the point standings will take to the track in the Pro Stock-IMCA challenge. If I understand the concept correctly, the IMCAs will start on the outside line and Pro Stocks on the inside. Talking with IMCA track champion Jeremy Cramer Saturday about the race, he pointed out that the cars often run close to the same times, so it will depend on the track conditions at the time of the race as to which class will do better. He said if the track is wet, the IMCAs will do better but a hard, slick track favors the pro stocks. It should be interesting. In a short sprint like is planned, I would have to go with the IMCAs. In a longer race when the track slicks up, I would have to look toward the pro stocks, especially the way Ken Gates has put on late-race charges lately.
