Bicyclist injured in Johnstown accident
JOHNSTOWN — A Fort Hunter woman was badly hurt Wednesday when her bicycle went underneath a tractor-trailer on South Comrie Avenue near East State Street. Police Chief Gregory Horning said bicyclist Jeri Bursese, 41, of 2168 Queen Ann St., suffered injuries to both arms and a leg and was airlifted to the Albany Medical Center Hospital. Horning said Mark Wessing, 41, of Earlville, Madison County, was driving north on South Comrie Avenue in a Wal-Mart tractor-trailer at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday. Horning said Bursese was on the shoulder next to the truck, and her bike struck a storm drain cover. Horning said the bicyclist lost her balance, and she fell under the wheels of the trailer. The trucker stopped immediately, Horning said. He was not ticketed.
