| | New app!October 8, 2012 - Pat BeckSince its’ beginning on August 30, 1887, The Leader-Herald has delivered news, sports, features and opinions to generations of readers in the tri-county area. The way we provide the information to you, the reader, has evolved tremendously since that first newspaper was printed on a Gutenberg-style wooden press one sheet a time or when lead type was read upside down and one line at a time was set. And the way we provide news to you is continuing to advance. Each day, The Leader-Herald provides information through printed editions and via our website, leaderherald.com. Now, our commitment to being the region's leading media source continues with our new mobile iPhone app, the first app we are rolling out to enable us to reach readers on the go. Initially available to iPhone users, the app will ultimately be ported to Android and Windows 8 for users of smart phones using those operating systems in the near future. Users of our mobile app will be able to receive breaking news alerts, the day's top news and sports stories, and features on local residents who are doing extraordinary things, along with being able to vote in our daily polls and search for articles. As the Leader-Herald celebrate our 125th anniversary this year, our commitment to our readers and community remains as strong as it was in 1887 with the forward vision of William B. Collins, and with the release of our new mobile app, we will continue that commitment by satisfying and providing the changing needs for readers. Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article.
