| | Just some facts and figures....September 28, 2012 - Pat BeckThis week I received the latest research on newspaper media audiences. For me, it is always an interesting read and thought I would pass some along. Some findings included: more than 101million American adults read a print newspaper or e-edition or visited a newspaper website on an average weekday, with more than 104 million doing likewise on an average Sunday. The Leader-Herald’s readership numbers would be over 20,000 daily readership of the print edition and 9,500 daily visits to our site. On Sundays our readership grows to over 23,000. With election season in full swing the research results from the Scarborough Research team reported that nearly 8 in 10 (79 percent) of those who have contributed to political organizations in the past year read a print newspaper or an e-edition in an average week. And regarding business owners, seven in 10 small business owners and 74% of those employed in professional occupations read a print newspaper or an e-edition in an average week. The best thing I read this week was reported in the Star Tribune on Friday, September 28. NEW ORLEANS - When The Times-Picayune decided to print three days a week, a nearby publication saw a chance to expand in the newspaper's backyard and fill a void that for some in the New Orleans area is as much a part of the morning routine as beignets and French coffee. The Advocate of Baton Rouge, a family-owned daily published 70 miles north, will begin a daily New Orleans edition Monday, setting up an old-fashioned newspaper war. I love it, made my heart pick up a beat. Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article. Post a Comment | in: News, Blogs & Events Web |
