Lost Radio Rounders return to Gloversville

January 13, 2011 - Bill Ackerbauer

This Sunday, the Lost Radio Rounders will return to St. James Lutheran Church in Gloversville for a Third Sunday at Three Concert. It will be their third performance there in three years, and if that isn’t enough tripartitism for you, the duo of Tom Lindsay and Michael Eck will be joined by Kyle Miller, making it a trio.

I know these guys, Eck and Miller especially, through our mutual association with the Capital Region “folk scene,” and I’m looking forward to seeing and hearing the three of them together. Scroll down below for a YouTube video that will offer a sample of what musical hijinks these guys are up to.

Here are the concert details:

The Lost Radio Rounders bring “Wildwood Flower: Songs of the Original Carter Family” to St. James Lutheran Church’s “Third Sundays at Three Concert Series” on Sunday, January 16, 2011.

Lost Radio Rounders, the Historic American Music duo of Tom Lindsay and Michael Eck, have become popular favorites at St. James, and this trip marks the group’s third visit to “Third Sundays at Three.” In fact, Lindsay and Eck recorded their most recent release, “Acoustic Roadshow,” in early 2010 at the Gloversville church.

“Wildwood Flower,” which was debuted to a sold-out house at Caffe Lena on Mother Maybelle Carter’s 100th birthday in May 2009, is an exploration of the secular and spiritual songs recorded by America’s “First Family of Country Music.”

Staples like “Will the Circle Be Unbroken,” “Keep on the Sunny Side,” “Worried Man Blues” and “I’m Thinking Tonight of My Blue Eyes” represent just a fraction of the deep influence of the Carters on the country, folk and popular music that came in their wake.

Lindsay and Eck make the music come alive with an entirely acoustic show featuring vocal harmonies, guitar, mandolin, dobro, autoharp, strumstick and more.

For this concert, Linday and Eck will be joined by Kyle Miller, an Altamont NY singer/songwriter, guitarist and harmonica ace. Miller has performed with Lost Radio Rounders on previous occasions, bringing a youthful exuberance, prodigious skill and charismatic charm to the proceedings.
