On a positive note ...

On a more positive note, regarding the Rail Fest, I shot video today of Rachel Van Slyke performing one of her songs. You may remember reading a feature story we published about Rachel a couple of months ago. She recently returned to the area after a long tour of the East Coast in which she bicycled her way, guitar and all, from gig to gig. She said her goal was to raise awareness of alternative modes of transportation -- i.e., ones that don't cause pollution and require the consumption of non-renewable resources.  

I guess I shouldn't pat myself on the back for riding my bike to work occasionally; this young woman pedaled across numerous states.  

 I only had a chance to hear a couple of her songs, but I was impressed with what I heard. Here's the video:
