Bill's Broadsides
POSTED:Tue, July 8, 2008 @ 11:37AM
Getting technical (again)Blog Links» Fulton County's Web siteSince my post in late June that mentioned out-of-date information on municipal Web sites, Fulton County has updated the Board of Supervisors page on its Web site. I see the page now correctly lists Michael Rooney as the current chairman. Unfortunately, the site has another page, headed "Current List of County Supervisors," that still says former Supervisor Stephen Barker is the chairman. It also says Peter Stone is the Oppenheim supervisor, which also is outdated information. I don't point this out simply to snipe, but to point out that a Web site (like newspaper) can be an informational can of worms. To balance the criticism with some praise: The county site has an interactive tax map feature that's pretty cool. It allows you to search parcels by name or number, and listings include details on assessments, market prices and tax bills for properties. It's a useful tool for the public and an asset for the county Web site.
