Time to hit "The Road"

In case you missed it in the print edition, I'm posting the following item here on the blog. Chalk it up to another act of shameless self-promotion. Actually, it's the book I'd like to promote. Pick up a copy and join us for one of the discussions later this month. It's a shortish novel, and I found it to be a quick read. But it's not for the faint of heart -- or the faint of mind.

Library to host talk on McCarthy novel
JOHNSTOWN — “The Road” by Cormac McCarthy has been chosen for the June BookNotes discussions at the Johnstown Public Library.
The novel describes a journey taken by a father and his young son across a post-apocalyptic landscape in which they struggle to survive after the fall of civilization.
The novel was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction and the 2006 James Tait Black Memorial Prize for Fiction, and it was an Oprah’s Book Club selection.
Bill Ackerbauer of Johnstown, an editor with The Leader-Herald and a journalism instructor at the University at Albany, will lead the discussion.
The events will take place at 6:30 p.m. June 24 and 10:30 a.m. June 27 at the library.
