Bill's Broadsides

POSTED:Mon, August 17, 2009 @ 12:49PM

Using the new CU

Today I've been browsing the contents of our newly updated photo-sharing site known as the "CU." I'm still getting the hang of it, but I managed to post some photos that I shot on Saturday at Johnson Hall.

I also just figured out how to send a photo from my cell phone directly to the CU site, so the next time I see some "breaking news" happening — such as another blue heron sighting — I'll be able to snap a photo and make it viewable within seconds.

Follow this link to see the shots I took Saturday: Painters at Johnson Hall

If anyone still wants to know, I saw a pair of herons at a pond on McQueen Road just west of 30 behind the pool place.

Yesterday, on a private lake, I had the pleasure of watching a loon, closeby, dive for fish. I never saw it before. They don't pop up for a long time and when they do they aren't in the same spot. Went back today with camera and no loon. I need to learn to carry it with me at all times! On another note...the area North on 10...past Caroga Lake, Pine Lake, Stoner Lake and all that section...is the most beautiful country in New York.

I think cell phones should have built in tasers so that if someone tries to mug you, you can zap him, then send his picture to the police and the newspaper.
