A Good Thing.

July 28, 2009 - Pat Beck
This is a good thing. Period. King TeleServices, a subsidiary of the Wall Street-based D.F. King Co., will move into the former Frontier Building at 60 Church St., Gloversville and will bring about 1,000 jobs with it.

Hi-It's me again!I just thought of another "Good Thing".The Walmart Distribution Center. It has brought a lot of trucks and jobs to the area.Being president of 2 trucking companies,my trucks brought alot of merchandise to the distribution center. Now my question is,why aren't they supporting their truck drivers? In July,Walmart,in Gloversville, put up new signs"No Truck Parking".Nice, huh?Sam Walton, founder of Walmart, said that as long as there was a Walmart, truckdrivers would have a safe place to park.Without truckdrivers,he would have no business.I guess now that he's dead,we(truckdrivers) don't count. When the Super Center comes in,I bet Hannaford House and House of Pizza would wish the truckers would come.We eat;sleep;shop and have families, just like everybody else-and we make a fairly descent paycheck. Why should Walmart be special and have their own road, off the Arterial, for their new supercenter, when others can't?Bravo to the ones who voted it down.Keep up the good

This tired blog has been up almost as long as Bernie has been in jail. One wonders which will remain incarcerated longer. C'mon, ye publisher, drop us some new pearls of wisdom.

P.S.It's a wonderful thing for all the good thoughts and prayers to the family of Ted Kennedy. This is a "Good Thing".But....Remember,Ted had brain cancer and was not functioning properly. His positive views on socialized medicine were way out of wack.If he remembered his "poor Irish roots",he would never have gone for it.People, look at what it really is-anyone over 57 would not even have the chance for a heart stink;kidney transplant or cancer treatment.Treatment would be "Hospice".Sorry, you're going to die because you are too old and we don't have the funds.Anytime government takes over,we,the people, are "screwed, blued and tatooed".We might as well go back to dictatorship and communism. What have all our Veterans fought for?Wake up people! This is America-not Hitlers' Germany!

I am glad to see more jobs coming back into the area.My question is,"Who,in the area, gave the unemployment figures to our governor? He quotes the unemployment rate for N.Y.,as 7-9% this year, but as usual,We Upstaters, don't count. The unemployment rate in Fulton and Montgomery counties has risen to 47-49%,in the past year.No mention of Hamilton County-guess they don't count. We have the least population,so the least amount of votes.Let's have someone from here give our "Handycapped"governor a true break-down of the "progress" of this state-county by county. It might help "improve"his vision.By the way,I am a female;14 yr.military veteran;100% disabled;mother of 5 and grandmother of 7.Could he live off of unemployment;disability or social security?

It will also be good for the local G'ville pan handlers. When they see 1,000 people leaving a building with money in their pockets, their handout intake will no doubt improve.

Yes, but how many will they hire from this area? Many large companies are notorious for bringing the workers with them from other areas or hiring still from other countries through government sponsored programs.
