| | Great showJanuary 19, 2009 - Bill AckerbauerDespite the snow, St. James Lutheran Church in Gloversville had a great turnout on Sunday for the Gospel Train concert. These guys performed two sets of spirituals, hymns, gospel-blues, holy folk and semi-sacred ditties, and the audience sang along enthusiastically on several numbers. These guys said they are looking for additional gigs in our area, and they indicated an interest in performing for historical societies. Apparently they are putting together a more secular program called "Lincoln & Liberty," which features songs from the Civil War era. Check out their Web site at www.gospeltrainmusic.com. Look below for a video I shot of Michael and Tom performing one of the more familiar songs in their repertoire, "Down by the Riverside." The video quality leaves much to be desired because my autofocus went haywire, but the sound isn't bad. At any rate, if you didn't make it on Sunday, this will give you an idea of what you missed.
