Bill's Broadsides
POSTED:Thu, February 28, 2008 @ 2:36PM
Trio to announce new nameYou may have noticed items in the paper this week saying the Foothills Trio will be performing Sunday at the First Presbyterian Church in Johnstown.Fans of this world-famous folk-n-roll band (such as those who packed a show earlier this month at the Top Notch in Perth) are aware that it is not actually called the Foothills Trio anymore. Two of the original members, Tim Keegan and Don Golden, parted ways with Bill Englehardt a few years back. Now, Tim and Don are playing with bassist-singer Mike McAllister, also of the Michael Thomas Band. Mike is my wife's stepfather, so I occasionally get a backstage pass or free autographs, but so far I have not been invited to ride in the band's gold-plated limousine: ![]() The band polled the audience at the Top Notch show seeking ideas for a name for the new trio. I suggested a few, including "Herb Keegan and the Tijuana Gas," "The Motherfolkers" and "Peter, Paul and Mike." Alas, I hear through my connections that they won't be using any of those choices (and the name Wu Tang Clan was taken). They plan to announce the new name at this Sunday's show at the church. For details about the show, see today's What's to Do? section of the newspaper or call the church at 762-8263.
