The wait is over

October 16, 2008 - Bill Ackerbauer
When I came in to work this morning, there was a surprise waiting for me on my desk. The long-awaited shipment of "Celebrating Johnstown" books has arrived.
I'm glad to finally hold the finished product in my hand and see that it turned out as I had envisioned.
Now I can get to work on my next book, which will be a novel about a newspaper editor who goes crazy and suffers from delusions that he can put together a book in four months while still working on a daily newspaper and teaching night courses at two different colleges and still have a social life. It's sort of a mystery-suspense-fantasy-romance-thriller, and while the storyline takes some heart-pounding twists and turns, it has a happy ending. I'm thinking about titling it "Sleepless at the City Desk." But I digress ...

If you had put in an advance order for a copy (or several copies) of "Celebrating Johnstown," I'd sincerely like to thank you for your interest. As I write, the industrious army of worker gnomes in The Leader-Herald's Book Distribution Department (watch your back, Amazon.com!) is hard at work sending copies to those who had requested home delivery.
If you haven't ordered your copy yet, you may do so by calling 725-8616 or by visiting our front desk at 8 E. Fulton St. in Gloversville. Also, feel free to direct questions or comments to me at backerbauer@leaderherald.com.
