Sean Rowe coming to Wells
August 8, 2013 - Bill Ackerbauer
The tiny Adirondack town of Wells has been a hot spot for live music this summer, thanks to the folks who run the Lakehouse Grille on Route 30. This weekend, they will present two Capital Region songwriters worth checking out — Sean Rowe on Friday night, and Saratoga County's Bob Warren and his band on Saturday night.
I first became aware of Sean Rowe about 10 years ago, when he called me out of the blue to say he was interested in starting a band and was reaching out to musicians in the Albany area. We had a good conversation that I failed to follow up on (I'm kicking myself, now of course).
In the past decade, he's developed into an accomplished songwriter and solo performer. Last month, he played at the Winnipeg Folk Festival and toured several Southeastern states and Ohio, and in September, he'll play for audiences in the Netherlands.
Tickets to Friday night's show aren't cheap at $40 a pop, but that price includes dinner and, no doubt, some of Sean's tales about his adventures in wilderness survival. Check out this video of Sean's 2011 "Tiny Desk Concert" from NPR:
