The greatest act of love was Christ dying for us

My text for this month’s article is taken from Hebrews 9:27. “It is appointed once for a human to die then the judgment.” Listen up! It is not so much that God judges man, than man judges himself. God loves all men and in fact it is not his will men perish in hell but that all men be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. The greatest act of love was Christ shedding his blood on the cross.

Christ first of all:

1. Redeemed man from the curse of the law. The sole purpose of the law was to be fulfilled at the cross and it now gives man a sense of his sinfulness. It has never and will be abrogated.

2. Reconciled man to God. Before the cross, man and God were estranged from one another because of sin, specifically the fall of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden when Satan who was Lucifer deceived Adam and Eve by tricking them to eat from the forbidden tree of knowledge of good and evil.

3. Ransomed men from a futile way of life. Christ purchased back men’s souls in other words. But men have free will up to a point. Men can either accept what Christ did at the cross or outright reject salvation. After death, men will either be judged at the bema seat of rewards or at the great while throne of judgment. And my friend at the great white throne judgment, all those not found written in the lambs book of life will be cast in the lake of fire with the antichrist, false prophet and satan.

This is not a message of doom and gloom but a statement of the love of Christ and men consigning themselves to hell. When you make a choice to reject Christ, you choose eternal perishing. This Easter season, choose Christ’s love. “God be merciful to me a sinner” justifies the sinner from the pharisee who feels no need of forgiveness. “Almighty God forgive me for all my sins. I acknowledge what you did at the cross and I believe in your resurrection which gives us a victorious life.” Amen.
