Volunteers are working hard to rid our cities of drug abuse

I would like to extend our appreciation for the work of the Rev. Henry McGrath and Harold Bryant Jr. of NeighborhoodsAgainstDrugs, and all its volunteers who have worked hard locally and throughout New York state educating the public on the serious heroin and opiod epidemic which threatens our families, youth and neighborhoods. I have had the opportunity to support and obtain training from this group with their projects locally, as well as in the Capital District and in Oneonta, Otsego County, and can attest to the dedication by which they create public service messages, produce commercial videos in support of addiction treament, propose legislation, create public awareness events and training for the public — all without funds or outside agency assistance. At the Dec. 12, NYS Assembly hearing on “Adequacy of Funding for Prevention, Treatment and Recovery Services”, NAD was the only local drug prevention entity that attended the hearing, represented our area and provided the hearing information live to the public locally. This group can be found on Facebook where anyone willing to make a difference can join.

We thank all the NAD volunteers in our neighborhoods of Gloversville and in Fulton County and pray that their efforts and strong message against opioids will not go unrecognized by the public or our officials in Fulton County.
