Someone close to you could be considering suicide

In America there are many people that suffer with depression. Do you realize that 3,000 people commit suicide a day? The number of people that commit suicide shouldn’t be that huge. Many celebrities such as author Earnest Hemingway and Academy Award winner Robin Williams both committed suicide. But none of their deaths affected me at anyway because they were celebrities. This past Thanksgiving someone who I was very close with took their own life because that person was very depressed. That really affected me; I became very heart broken. So I believe that is my goal to make sure that people with depression never have to use that as their last resort. Because the sad thing is, nobody really knows how much anyone else is really hurting. We could be standing next to somebody who is completely broken and we wouldn’t even know it.

The holiday season can be difficult if you’re suffering the loss of a loved one, or if you’re depressed yourself. Call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline 1-800-273-TALK (8255) for help and support. There will people who will be there for you. Not only during the holidays if you’re depressed should you call the National Suicide Prevention lifeline, you should at anytime when you’re depressed. I don’t want anyone else’s best friend, child, parent or even loved one to end their life because of the factor their battling with depression because they can get the help they need desperately.

I’m going to honor the memory of my late best friend by helping people with depression. The thing is I can’t do that alone; I’m calling on everyone in this country to do what is best to make sure that the amount of people that commit suicide a day isn’t 3,000 anymore; it shouldn’t be that huge of a number. I’m calling on the Congress to pass legislation to make it easier for people to access treatment for their depression. Because nobody ever wants to get a call that someone who is very close to them or even a family member committed suicide because that would devastate you and nobody wants that to happen at all. Let’s stop this from happening. Always remember that life is so precious.
