Westover genuinely cares about town
I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge my support for Jim Westover for town of Johnstown supervisor who is running on the independent line in November.
Westover is passionate about the town and its residents; as such, he has a tendency to be outspoken on his views and opinions regarding the handling of town interests and business. Jim is a businessman who feels the town should be run as a business with the residents’ tax dollars being spent judiciously, keeping spending in check in order to keep taxes low. At times, this has meant cutting purchases and previously supported programs from the budget to keep things balanced. These can be tough decisions, but the town officials are elected by the residents to be good stewards of their tax dollars, which means priorities must be established. Jim has values and ideas of what he feels Johnstown is and what it can become, but he is open-minded in listening to his constituents’ opinions and concerns. He attended Town Board meetings long before he was voted in as a councilman and readily voiced his feelings to the board during that time.
Jim is not a politician and not politically correct. He can be argumentative and long winded, but he is running for town supervisor because he genuinely cares about the town of Johnstown and not his own agenda.
I don’t intend to vote for him merely because we are friends – we don’t always see eye to eye on issues – but because I think he will do the best job possible for the people of Johnstown.
I would ask everyone to take your vote seriously at election time and vote for the person you feel is best qualified to represent you, not just because you are an acquaintance or friend of a candidate.
