Charles T. Sweet
Charles T. Sweet, 75, of Vandenburgh Point Road, Gloversville passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady, with his family at his side.
He was born in Mayfield on October 21, 1943, a son of Charles W. and Janet Marcais Sweet and graduated from Mayfield Central School.
Mr. Sweet was employed with the New York state Department of Transportation in highway maintenance for several years before retiring.
Charles was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served from 1964 to 1967.
He enjoyed being outdoors and loved hunting, fishing, and camping. He also enjoyed NASCAR.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, William.
Survivors include his wife, Yong No Kim Sweet, whom he married on August 11, 1966; two daughters, Laurie Vane of Albany and Kelly (Joe) Artikuski of Edinburg; a son, Charles (Tricia) Sweet of Broadalbin; a brother, Roy (Kuntree) Sweet of Mayfield; three grandsons, Cole Vane, and Joseph Thomas and Landon Artikuski; a granddog, Sherman; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Cremation was performed at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. A military graveside service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Mayfield Cemetery with the Rev. Jun Segura, officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are by the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc. 111 County Highway 106, Johnstown, N.Y. 12095.
