Douglas Darling, 52, of Gloversville, NY, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2019, in Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, with family by his side. He was born June 9, 1966.
He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Brenda; daughter, Melinda Sue (Eric) Bush; stepson, Jacob (Steve) Somers; and Jared Somers. Douglas leaves behind his grandson, Kalvin Eric “Super Kal” Bush; granddaughter, Josephine Mae “Ms. Mae” Bush; his granddog, Oreo “Cookertin.” Doug also sadly leaves behind his brother, Roy (Melissa); sisters,
Vicky and Brenda (Matt) Bowers; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents, Roy (Peewee) and Barbara Jean Darling; and brother, Richard Darling.
Douglas will be remembered for his love of family and his awesome sense of humor. He had a way of making people laugh. Aside from his pride and joys (Kalvin and Josephine), Doug was happiest when riding his Harley, working on hotrods, watching the Dallas Cowboys and anytime the sun was out. He also had a love for music and enjoyed jamming with his son-in-law, Eric.
For many years, Doug enjoyed his dream of being an over-the-road truck driver and eventually owning his own truck.
Prior to trucking, Douglas worked in the leather industry and after trucking, Douglas drove locally for delivering propane tanks. While Doug drove over the road, he would gain what he called over-the-road family as it was easy for Doug to make friends.
We will be having a benefit and a celebration of life in April.
