Stanley A. Watroba
Stanley A. Watroba, 93, formerly of Gloversville, passed away on Sunday evening, September 2, 2018, at the Fulton Center for Rehab. and Healthcare.
He was born on December 24, 1924, a son of John and Nellie Bartman Watroba and was educated in local schools. Stan lived in Schenectady for many years before returning to Gloversville.
Mr. Watroba was employed as a toll collector for the New York State Thruway Authority and retired in 1980.
Stan was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during World War II in the European theater.
He was of the Catholic faith.
Stan enjoyed playing tennis and softball in his younger years. He also enjoyed horseracing in Saratoga. In later years, Stan was a member of the Gloversville Senior Citizens. He enjoyed playing card games including poker and pinochle.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Beatrice Johnson Watroba; his siblings, Herman, Alousis, Chester, Elizabeth, and Marion; and his son, Stanley.
Survivots include his daughter-in-law, Cindy Watroba of Schenectady; three grandchildren, Ryan (Heather) Watroba, Mackenzie Watroba, and Joseph (Michaela) Watroba; his dear friend, Jeannie; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cremation was performed at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. at Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown with the Rev. Jun Segura, officiating. Arrangements are by the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home Inc.. 111 County Highway 106, Johnstown.
