Joanne Dalleo-Locascio of Mountainaire, New Mexico, went to be with our Lord on Saturday, August 11, 2018, with her loving family by her side, following a courageous battle with ALS. Joanne was born in Gloversville on September 16, 1958, to Michael and Betty Dalleo.
She attended Gloversville schools and then Geneseo State University where she met the love of her life – Peter Locascio. From there, she earned her master’s degree in education specializing in special education at Ball State University in Indiana. Joanne spent her entire adult career educating and working with preschool children with special needs. Joanne was of the Catholic faith and was very active in her parish, St. Francis Xavier in Manhattan before the onset of her illness.
In spite of her illness, she and her husband Peter fulfilled their dream of moving to New Mexico and building their home. She spent the last two years of her life enjoying the New Mexico weather and landscape.
Joanne is survived by her husband, Peter of New Mexico; and her children, Elena and Aidan of NYC. She is also survived by her parents, Michael and Betty Dalleo of Gloversville; her sister, Debbie Timmerman (Rick) of St. Albans, VT; her sister, Robin Morrison (Jim) of Gloversville; her sister, Angie Carlson (Grant) of Gig Harbor, WA; her brother, Michael Dalleo (Bonnie) of Wichita, KS; and her sister, Brenda Leitt (Ed) of Gloversville; along with several nieces and nephews.
Cremation will take place in New Mexico. A celebration of Joanne’s life will take place at a later date in Glovesville.
