Agatha Polmateer, age 91, of Gloversville, passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Amsterdam with her loving family by her side.
She was born on May 21, 1927, in Fort Plain, a daughter of the late Erwin Avery and Blanche Crossman Avery.
Agatha was employed as sewing machine operator for Swears in Fort Plain and later for the Johnstown Knitting Company.
She is survived by her son, Allan J. Polmateer (Karen) of Ephratah; two daughters, Deborah Sinatra of Gloversville and Lorna Putman (Roger) of Johnstown; one sister, Flo Massi of Florida; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mrs. Polmateer was predeceased by her husband, Leonard Polmateer, whom she married on November 12, 1949, and who passed on December 12, 1982; and four sisters, Reva McGowan, Velma Arndt, Alva Suits and Einza Youker.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, August 19, 2018, from 4 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, 215 E. Main Street, Johnstown.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, August 20, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Ernie Handy officiating.
Interment will be in Ephratah Rural Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
