James C. Mishook
James C. Mishook, 32, of Manny Corners Road, Amsterdam passed away suddenly on Saturday July 7, 2018, at St. Mary’s Healthcare, Amsterdam.
He was born in Amsterdam on August 9, 1985, a son of James and Christine Moylan Mishook and was a 2004 graduate of Broadalbin-Perth High School. Jim was a lifelong area resident.
He was self-employed as a logger and also worked with his father doing construction and restoration.
Jim was a member of the Sons of the American Legion in Broadalbin.
He was an amazing father and a totally selfless individual. Jim was generous, compassionate, and was always thinking of others. He loved to help everyone and bring people together. Jim always had an interest in nature (a childhood interest in bugs had him aspiring to be an entomologist). He has always been an animal lover. You could find him hiking and exploring in the great Adirondacks, finding great swimming holes, and fishing with his son. Jim enjoyed woodworking and construction with his father. When indoors, he enjoyed collecting and playing different types of video game systems. He had a love for metal music and attended many concerts.
Survivors include his girlfriend of several years, Jennifer Melnick of Amsterdam; a son, James D. Mills of Perth; his father, James C. Mishook of Galway; his mother, Christine L. Mishook of Del Ray Beach, FL; a brother, Joseph A. Hemsing of West New York, NJ; two sisters, Ashley M. Mishook of Gansevoort and Heather L. Mishook of Daytona, FL; a niece; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home Inc. 111 County Highway 106 (corner of Route 29 and Black Street), Johnstown followed by a time of sharing at 7:30 p.m. Cremation will be performed at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. Memorial contributions may be made to assist his son at Berkshire Bank, in care of the funeral home.
