Irene M. Kubina
Irene M. Kubina, age 90, of Johnstown, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at Mountain Valley Hospice House, Gloversville.
She was born in Binghamton on December 24, 1927, a daughter of the late Satur and Julia Jakubac Mihalik.
Irene was a graduate of Johnstown High School. She worked for many years at Conroy Gloves until her retirement. Mrs. Kubina was of the Catholic faith, a communicant of the former St. Anthony’s Church and current Holy Trinity Church. Irene was a member of the Catholic Sokol. She was the matriarch of her family who was loved and adored by them.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathy LoDestro of Johnstown and Nancy (Terrance) Gill of Johnstown; grandchildren, Lori LoDestro, Joseph J. LoDestro (Jeanine), John LoDestro, Kathi Lewis (Matt), Jason Gill, Daniel Gill and Julia Pyzik (Mike); great-grandchildren, Eric Carter, Brianna Gardner, Amanda King, Nathaniel King, Victoria LoDestro, Dominic LoDestro, Isabella Lewis, Abbigail Lewis, Lucy LoDestro, Gage LoDestro, Hope LoDestro, Jaydan Pyzik and Evan Pyzik; three great-great-grandchildren, Brantley, Arietta and Sage; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband, John Kubina, whom she married on August 18, 1951, and who passed on May 20, 2007; four siblings, Emil Mihalik, Joe Mihalik, John Mihalik and Helen Zamanek; son-in-law, Joseph C. LoDestro; and grandson, Michael Carter.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2018, at Holy Trinity Church, Glebe Street, Johnstown, New York.
Visitation for family and friends will be prior to the Mass from 12:00 p.m. (noon) until 1:00 p.m. at the Church.
Interment will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery in the spring.
